Katan Kitchens has been selected to re-appear in an upcoming episode of DRAGONS’ DEN, airing Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) on CBC Television. The Ontario-based company was featured on the program March 11, 2015 when President and CEO James Draves pitched his business, developing a superfood processing facility in Northern Ontario, to the Dragons. Jamie was successful in his initial pitch and has been pursuing specifics of the deal over the last year. This time around, the segment with Katan® Kitchens focuses on how the deal transpired with Vikram Vij, and the changes to and development of the business since the initial introduction to the Dragons.
Jamie Draves formed Katan Kitchens after a health crisis in 2007 that resulted in the loss of a third of his pancreas. From this, Jamie was forced to follow a very limited diet consisting of high-quality, nutritious foods. Many SuperFoods, in particular quinoa, were a key factor in regaining his health. Realizing the use of high quality foods for improved health drove Jamie’s passion and pursuit to form Katan Kitchens and to commercialize Quinta Quinoa, a high nutritional quality and purity quinoa that is produced (grown) and processed in Canada.
Draves originally entered ‘The Den’ to seek funds for the development of a high quality superfood processing facility in Northern Ontario. Make sure to tune in Wednesday, February 24th at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) on CBC Television to see what has transpired since that handshake almost one year ago!
