2016 Agri-Food Innovation Excellence Award Winner

katanThe Katan Kitchens/Quinta Quinoa team is proud to be a recipient of an Agri-Food Innovation Excellence Award which recognizes the contributions of producers, processors, agri-food organizations and rural communities in Ontario whose innovations work to improve existing products, create new jobs and grow Ontario’s economy.
Through five years of research, Katan Kitchens developed and refined a non-GMO quinoa seed suited to Ontario’s soil, climate and farming practices. This quinoa, branded Quinta Quinoa, is the first variety to be commercialized in the province and boasts higher levels of protein, iron, magnesium, fiber, zinc, and calcium than any other quinoa. Quinta Quinoa is currently available online, at local trade shows and in health food stores across the province. Katan is ramping up production and sales of the profitable crop, expanding into other provinces and continuously increasing retail locations.
