Cochrane born and raised Jamie Draves, of Katan Kitchens, has moved on to the next step of his “SuperFood” line by having his product available at store level.
Draves first gained national attention after appearing on the popular CBC Dragon’s Den television show in early 2015 and successfully made a $200,000 deal with Vikram Vij. Since then he has been working hard to produce his first crop of quality quinoa.
“We have brought in our first commercial crop in the fall of 2015 and set up a temporary facility to process it,” said Draves. “We have been testing our process for improvements and efficiencies and researching improved equipment modifications.
“We were able to get approval on six nutritional claims including the highest claim possible for iron and magnesium, which is significant in that no other quinoa even has one claim.”
The company has completed packaging and processing system, launched retail website, and appeared on two Dragon’s Den update shows.
